Advice to all PAS members

If you love the party, don’t do things that damage the party and its image.

Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS vice president

Spending problems

If the country has financial problems, what needs to be investigated is how the government spends. As long as the government does not spend wisely, the country will never have enough financial resources, even if tax collected amounts to billions of ringgit.

Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, PAS Ulama information chief

There are a lot of views out there, for example on the goods and services tax (GST). Many people give their religious rulings but since there are no clear 'nas' (supporting passanges in scripture), the decision of the National Fatwa Committee is used since they are appointed by the government.

Jamil Khir Baharom, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, calling Muslims to adhere to decisions made at the National Fatwa Committee's meeting (muzakarah) when faced with religious rulings which have no clear 'nas' (in the Quran)

Church protest

Ultimately, the people that get hurt are not the protesters but the good name of Islam and its followers.

Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS vice president, commenting on the Taman Medan Church protest incident

Their children should only be taught subtraction, multiplication and division. Unless we can substitute the addition symbol with something else. On the same note, they should also refrain from using the 'small t' and stick to the 'capital T' because the smaller 't' also resembles a cross.

S Vell Paari, MIC leader, expressing bewilderment over the protest in Taman Medan Church protest incident

The Sedition Act is to ensure peace and harmony between the races and safeguards all religions and races.

Najib Razak, Prime Minister, ticking off the protesters who demanded a church to remove a cross and said the police would investigate the incident

Importance of truth

I hope writers would continue to state the painful truth and not beautiful lies.

Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister, emphasising on the need to speak the truth
