Money trail controversy

I did not betray the people, I will find ways to uphold the truth, be calm, the truth will prevail.

Najib Razak, insisting that he would strive to seek the truthful path to rebut all allegations against his leadership

Not Najib or any Cabinet minister can order AmBank or BNM to reveal an individual’s bank record. BAFIA (Banking and Financial Institutions Act 1989) prohibits AmBank and BNM to reveal the owner of the controversial bank account. There is nothing that can force both these banking institutions to reveal whatever is stated under BAFIA. If this information is revealed, it will definitely undermine the trust of Malaysians and the world towards the country’s banking system.

Khalid Ibrahim, former Selangor MB, on why AmBank or Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) cannot confirm the personal bank account belongs to Najib Razak as alleged by Wall Street Journal

There have been cases where leaders had to take a break when there were on going cases in court. But in this case, it is still under investigation. Let's not be premature in our decisions.

Khairy Jamaluddin, Umno Youth chief, insisting that there is no need for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to take leave pending investigations into allegations that nearly US$700 million was transferred into his account

Opposition

That is the Malaysia under Umno and BN that we must defend because we already know opposition is brittle, even though they are still around but with ideology that’s so different among each other, they cannot bring stability to Malaysia.

Najib Razak, claiming that the opposition parties will not be able to run the country as well as Barisan Nasional (BN) has simply because of their opposing ideologies

Bersih 4.0

We will want to see a response first and how they are going to present their investigations related to 1MDB. Bersih 4.0 will not be discounted if the investigations are not impartial.

Maria Chin Abdullah, Bersih chairperson, warning that the authorities must come clean on the 1MDB controversy or risk a mass street protest

Iban’s traditional attire

Ritual or traditional clothes such as this (worn by the Iban) are not for daily wear or for office dealings. It is the traditional clothes of cetain races, and not something worn to go to the market. I think everyone knows when to wear their traditional clothes and not simply wear it for their daily affairs.

Siti Zainon Ismail, Cultural expert, lashing out at Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's Facebook post questioning whether Iban people in traditional garb would be barred from government offices

Felda

Mahathir questioned why Najib appointed an individual with a record of misconduct as Felda chairperson. He said Abdul Razak (former PM) had worked hard to develop Felda, but Najib is doing the opposite.
