War in Umno

We need to manage the perceptions against the reality faced by the country, which were negatively influencing people's mind. I am not a leader who does not accept criticisms as long as it is constructive.

Najib Razak, insisting the new battlefield in perception created by the social media has to be countered

I myself, when I go (to meet the divisions) especially in Johor recently, the concern we have is that our delegates and members are anxious. Confused? Some are confused, but to say that they are so angry that it will affect the party’s position, I don’t see that yet.

Hishamuddin Hussein, Umno vice president, downplaying the spectre of an Umno revolt brewing in Johor following Muhyiddin Yassin’s removal as deputy prime minister

We also urge that the deputy president should be respected. How can we turn our backs on him when he is no longer the deputy prime minister. Our friendship is not about status or position?

Khaled Nordin, Johor Umno chief

Umno is larger than any one person.

Khairy Jamaluddin, Umno Youth chief

Both of them (Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali) have already denied this, so there is no need for me to deny it as well. But just to be clear – I am not involved.

Muhyiddin Yassin, Umno deputy president, denying he was conspiring with opposition leaders to call for a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak

War against MACC

With a variety of assumptions and perceptions having been made, I have ordered for a temporary postponement of the case.

Khalid Abu Bakar, Inspector General of Police, announcing that the police will temporarily postpone the investigations on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) alleged leakage of information which was published in the Sarawak Report portal

Looking at the current situation, MACC would like to advise all parties not to disseminate and spread information that isn’t verified, as well as negative assumptions which will only confuse and raise suspicion among the people.

Mustafar Ali, MACC deputy chief commissioner
