Explanation on RM2.6 billion donation
It (public reaction) seems fine, not as bad as the social media made it out to be. Social media is being syok sendiri (self indulgent). That is what we want to stress from the social media viewpoint. Inaccurate news must be explained.
Shahrir Abdul Samad, BN Backbencher's Club (BNBBC) chairperson, insisting that the public seem satisfied with explanations that the RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal accounts were a donation
Plot to topple PM
I don't know when the new meeting will be held but I will make sure it happens.
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister, touting that he would ensure the man behind the alleged plot to topple the government will meet Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak
What we have heard, read and saw on blogs and such about the 20 BN MPs who are involved in the plot to topple the government is actually a made up story. It is not true at all. There isn't anyone among the MPs who contacted or were contacted by any individuals regarding this issue.
Shahrir Abdul Samad, Johor Bharu MP, denying the allegations that 20 BN lawmakers are involved in the plot to topple the government and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak
If they (Bersih) are not careful (with their words), then we will take action. We are monitoring the developments every minute and second […] We never prohibit any activity based on freedom of expression or speech but it must be done in accordance with the law. If you incite the people to take to the streets with the aim of toppling the government, we will not tolerate that.
Khalid Abu Bakar, Inspector General of Police, alleging that Bersih had deviated from its original cause of striving for free and fair elections and was now allegedly trying to topple the government illegally
As the police are duty-bound to defend our political system, a constitutional crisis would be triggered if the police are involved in ‘activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy’. Bersih 2.0 therefore sincerely urges the inspector-general of police (Khalid Abu Bakar) to carefully study the constitution and law before making any statement that may shatter public confidence in the police’s impartiality and professionalism.
Bersih 2.0 steering committee, warning the police that themselves would be acting 'in detriment to parliamentary democracy’ if it cracks down on the Bersih 4 rally come Aug 29 following the police warning to the NGO not to incite people to allegedly topple the government
1MDB is a different company and does not receive any directive from the Finance Ministry, but DEIG's role is not like a middleman as alleged by Port Klang. It is fully owned by MBI, of course, policy level will be decided by MBI. But in terms of investments, it will be managed by DEIG that is tied to the existing enactments and will be improved.
Azmin Ali, Selangor MB, denying that denied that his brainchild Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) was similar to debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) although it allegedly does not have to report to the state assembly
Charge sheet against Najib
In the interview, I never said the charge sheet existed as alleged by DAP leaders. I said there were two conspiracy theories out there. My interview in The Star Online was clear and unambiguous. It's amusing to see DAP leaders twisting it beyond recognition.
Rahman Dahlan, BN strategic communications director, denying that he admitted to the existence of a charge sheet against Prime Minister Najib Razak
