Hard to promote Malaysia

I have been promoting Malaysia for a long time and it has never been tougher than now due to 1MDB and related issues.

Nazir Razak, CIMB chairperson, lamenting that it was tough trying to promote Malaysia amid the 1MDB scandal and related issues afflicting the country

Gani Patail’s removal

He (Abdul Gani) said he is fine. I would like to get an explanation if the Prime Minister had abused his powers in removing the AG.

Gobind Singh Deo, Puchong MP, questioning why former Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail was removed since the latter claimed he was fine in a public appearance two days ago

Abdul Gani was removed due to health reasons at that time.

Nancy Shukri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department

1MDB debate

We don’t need an Arul-Pua ‘debate’ on the issues. They are already, and will continuously be, the subject matter of debate amongst the people. What is required is not debates and mudslinging by any quarter. Action to get on with investigating and addressing the issues are what is urgently required.

Rafidah Aziz, former cabinet minister

The debate is off as far as live telecast is concerned. We only agreed to (telecast) Pua against 1MDB chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

Salleh Said Keruak, Communications and Multimedia Minister, insisting that the live coverage of the 1MDB debate to be held on RTM on Friday is off

We will announce the person and the team that will negotiate with whoever is interested in broadcasting the debate.

Saifuddin Abdullah, Pakatan Harapan chief secretary, on naming a replacement for Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua in the proposed debate with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy

You claim that your knight's position on the PAC is more important, yet this stance was only taken after you found out that the 'joker' was audacious enough to accept your veiled challenge. Why wasn't this brought up when the challenge was first made? Why delay this stance? Why only manifest this after the ‘joker’ accepted the challenge? It's either your knight is the actual coward, or his fortress (DAP) is filled by opportunists who only know how to execute a fake half-hearted challenge.

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Asia’s top debater, criticising what he said is DAP's ‘half-hearted’ challenge to take on 1MDB president and group executive director Arul Kanda Kandsamy
