1MDB – Dr M’s battle

So we cannot accept the statement by the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) personnel just like that. We want proof. We want to know how the RM2.6 billion in the prime minister's account is not from 1MDB. Your explanations are without proof.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad, wanting  proof that the RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Razak's personal accounts was indeed a donation from the Middle East and not from 1MDB as reported

This is despite detailed and factual clarifications being issued by 1MDB, and that Dr Mahathir has repeatedly been proven wrong in his claim that ‘RM42 billion hilang’ (RM42 billion missing) from 1MDB. After 22 years in power, in his mind, only Dr Mahathir can be right. This is despite him being proven wrong on ‘RM42 billion hilang’ allegation and meekly confessing to not having evidence, when asked whether he would lodge a police report against 1MDB.

Meeting with Sulu Princess

I accept the decision of the Parliament, I have nothing to hide, and will continue my defence before the rights and privileges committee.

Nurul Izzah, Lembah Pantai MP, on being referred to the parliament’s rights and privileges committee for meeting self-styled Sulu princess Jacel Kiram

RM2.6 billion donation

Standing Order 25 states that a member may make a personal explanation on Standing Order 14. Since the issue relates to the Prime Minister directly, he should be the one to answer.

Gobind Singh Deo, Puchong MP, insisting that the RM2.6bil issue should be answered by Najib himself instead of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi

Other ministers can also answer (for the PM) because that is the House rule. After the Prime Minister, the next in line is the Deputy Prime Minister. So I allow it.

Pandikar Amin Mulia, Dewan Rakyat Speaker

The RM2.6bil deposited into Najib’s accounts was not from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Home Minister

Muhyiddin’s support

His showing up to support certain people in Umno… that is his call, I do not think that we should overreact in this particular case. We want to get through the assembly first and make sure that the party is intact.

Khairy Jamaluddin, Umno Youth chief, telling party members not to overact to Muhyiddin Yassin’s support of the nine Teluk Kemang branch leaders facing a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday
