Umno’s offer

With an open heart and free spirit, we offer the ties and bond of relationship towards the ideal in building Malaysia based on the Islamic doctrine.

Najib Razak, Umno president, offering to foster close ties with PAS to together build the nation in accordance with real Islamic doctrine

PAS remains resolute at this moment that we are politically cooperating with PKR and are committed to work together in accordance with the decision made during our recent Muktamar. The Syura Council and the PAS central committee have endorsed this.

Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS president, snubbing Umno's offer to forge closer ties

Umno tradition

What tradition are you talking about? Someone does everything outside tradition, then asks questions on lack of tradition. I don't think that is very fair to the (party) president.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Umno vice president, telling those who take internal party matters outside Umno not to argue about tradition

Criticising Umno president

Generally, it meant to show that his critics are people who want to destroy Umno - and the critics he means are me, Muhyiddin, Shafie Apdal and other brave leaders. But I did not destroy Umno. Instead, we won a two-thirds majority in the elections many times over. If I wanted to destroy Umno, that time when we had a financial crisis, when we were almost bankrupt - I could have gone on pension.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad, insisting that criticisng Umno president cannot be equated to destroying the party

If we ask for an explanation on 1MDB we will only keep asking.

Shafie Apdal, Umno Vice President

Najib’s warning

I mean that if Umno is rejected, this country will be ruled by those who are against the Islamic struggle and who reject the Malay and Bumiputra struggle. Disaster will befall us. Do we want the future of our children and grandchildren and the Islamic religion to be left to other than the existing Malay and Islamic leadership. Nauzubillah (we seek refuge in Allah).

Najib Razak, Umno president, telling the people that they have only two choices - a coalition government led by Umno or another pact which would be dominated by DAP
