SRC probe

Generally speaking, if there are issues heating up in the public sphere, there will be diversion tactics put in place. Coincidentally, Kedah Umno, in a purportedly unanimous decision, diverted media attention from the AG-MACC poser, and Najib’s silence on the issue, to the future of Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.

Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS deputy president, claiming the Kedah Umno crisis was created the divert attention from the on-going probe on Prime Minister Najib Razak

I think we must begin with Ling's statement of defence in paragraph 33.3 (ii), in which the defendant (Ling) says 'another RM42 million was transferred from SRC into the AmPrivate Banking personal account of the plaintiff via two intermediaries namely (SRC subsidiaries) Gandingan Mentari and Ihsan Perdana'. If you look at our statement of reply, my client only admitted that RM42 million went into his account, but had no knowledge it was through the two intermediaries as alleged by Ling.

Mohd Hafarizam Harun, Najib Razak’s lawyer, insisting that his client did not admit the RM42 million transferred into his bank account originated from former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd

There is no pressure on me nor will I quit because of pressure because this responsibility is important. I must complete them, particularly the ongoing investigations.

Abu Kassim Mohamed, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief, responding to rumours that he will be forced out of office over the commission's high-profile probe into the RM2.6 billion deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts and SRC International

Kedah crisis

It's not my way to beg or kneel on my knees to plead for this post because leaders must have dignity. I was brought up that way. When Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi came recently to visit, I told him that if the rakyat no longer support me, I, myself will resign. But they still want me, so please give me your support.

Mukhriz Mahathir, Kedah Menteri Besar, claiming 95 percent of Kedahans support his leadership

It does not arise where the Umno secretary-general needs to take disciplinary action against the 14 Kedah Umno division leaders.

Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Umno secretary-general, refusing to take action against Kedah Umno division leaders for demanding the ouster of Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir

There cannot be a double standard when taking action (against Umno members).

Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Umno Malaysia spokesperson, urging the party to take similar action against those rebelling against Mukhriz just like those who were punished for calling Najib to resign

It cannot be said that the entire Kedah Umno leadership rejects the menteri besar. If that's the case even Umno branch leaders would be against him. That (claim) is only representative of those who were there (at the press conference).

Suraya Yaacob, Kedah state exco member, disputing Kedah Umno deputy chief Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah's claim that Mukhriz has lost majority support
