Zeti’s hope - Horses’ Mouths – 24 February 2015

1MDB

It has been postponed because many of the board members are overseas. Some of them have gone for Umrah while others have important commitments. The presence of all PAC members at the tabling of the 1MDB report by the A-G is of utmost importance.

Hasan Arifin, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, announcing that the tabling of the Auditor-General’s final report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad has been postponed to next month

Zeti’s hope

That is what I have indicated and that is what my efforts are directed (at), to bring a conclusion to it during my term in office so that I can give the next governor a clean slate.

Dr Zeti Akhar Aziz, Bank Negara governor, hoping that investigations into 1MDB will conclude before her tenure ends in April

Trust on Bank Negara

I do believe that if the majority of the Malaysians do have a trust and respect in the central bank and look to us to maintain a stability in our country in a very challenging time.

Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Bank Negara governor, claiming Malaysians’ loss of faith in businesses and local institutions did not extend to Bank Negara Malaysia in response to the Edelman Trust Barometer survey

Biting dog

We want to do work because the rakyat is more important and so we must focus as a team to help the president to help the rakyat. If Muhyiddin is acting like a dog that bites our feet, it would be difficult for us (to work).

Nazri Aziz, Umno supreme council member, likening the party deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent attacks against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to a ‘biting dog’

Malaysian society and public trust

As democracy matures, the cynicism level of people toward the government increases. Regardless of how the government communicates or performs, people will put less trust in government and its leaders. As people get more informed, people are more likely less trusting of authority figures, especially when it comes to the government, politicians and business leaders.

Shahril Hamdan, Umno Youth exco member, claiming the dip in public trust towards the government was no anomaly

PKR-DAP’s fight

What said by Azmin Ali is party’s stand. Lim does not need to pretend he did not understand and spin the issues and divert from the real matter. Lim always gives a false perception over an issue and for this time, we demand that Lim will be honest in the spirit of Pakatan Harapan.

Shuhami Shafie, Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary

Khalid was sacked after he did not implement decisions made by PKR, and DAP respected their decision on the matter. Why is PKR not supporting us now? It is the same situation. They are trying to get them (the duo) reinstated. Are they saying that they don’t agree (with what happened to Khalid) and want Khalid reinstated too?

Lim Guan Eng, DAP secretary general, continuing to defend his decision to sack two PKR reps from Penang state agencies
